Our Vision for PE and Sport
At Christ Church Primary School, we seek to ensure that every child enjoys the life-changing benefits that come through play and sport. We aim for all pupils to be physically literate, gaining knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport. Through engaging, inclusive, and inspiring activities, we aim to nurture the physical, social, and emotional development of every child, ensuring they flourish is all aspects of our PE and sport curriculum.
Our PE and Sport Curriculum
We have a progressive, well sequenced PE and Sport curriculum throughout school, that has been carefully designed to enable children to develop secure, deep and fluent knowledge and skills. Our curriculum follows the National Curriculum program of study for Physical Education and promotes the following areas:
- Active and Healthy Lifestyles: Children are empowered with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead active and healthy lives, understanding the value of physical activity for their mind and body.
- Inclusivity and Participation: We create a welcoming environment where every child, regardless of their ability, feels valued and excited to participate, including having a sense of achievement.
- Skill Development and Growth: From basic motor skills to teamwork and strategic thinking, our curriculum focuses on equipping children with a broad range of physical and interpersonal abilities.
- Teamwork and Leadership: PE and sport fosters teamwork, communication, and leadership qualities, instilling values of cooperation, resilience, and fairness.
- Opportunities for Excellence: We provide opportunities for those who wish to pursue excellence in sport, celebrating achievement at all levels, from personal milestones to competitive success.
