At Christ Church Primary School, it is our vision for all of our children to ‘have life and have it to the full’ and arrangements for lunchtime are designed to support in fulfilling this aim.
Lunchtime is a very special time for all of our children; it is a time when they dine together and are able to flourish socially and spiritually. It is a time for children to build quality relationships, develop independence and grow in their social development. ‘Happy Healthy Lunchtimes’ at Christ Church Primary ensure children have a safe, happy and worthwhile break from school teaching sessions in the middle of the day.
Children dine together with friends in their class and can choose a hot school dinner or bring a packed lunch from home. Our teaching assistants supervise and support during this time, particularly with teaching new skills such as using cutlery. Our Lunchtime Arrangements and School Food policy can be found in the 'Policies' tab.
All children spend time outside during their lunchbreak. Zoned areas offer both adult led and independent activities, designed to engage and motivate all children and support skill development. Our sports coach leads competitive sport activities, ‘Craze of the Week’ introduces new and exciting equipment for all to enjoy, non-competitive sporting games are organised and we have an adventure trail. For children who prefer quieter activities, table top games and activities such as Lego are on offer, and of course there’s always a bench to sit and read a good book or chat with friends.
