From year 3 onwards, all pupils have a weekly French lesson. Through these lessons we aim to foster pupils’ curiosity about language and culture, and lay the foundations of linguistic competence for future learning. Pupils express their ideas and thoughts in French and learn to understand and respond to others, both in speech and in writing.

 

Through French learning, pupils develop an awareness of the rich multilingual and multicultural world in which we live, giving them an insight into their own culture and that of others.

 

Through a carefully planned curriculum that builds knowledge and skills, we aim for all pupils to be well equipped and highly motivated for further study at KS3 and beyond.
