Year 6 Leavers Video
Letter for Year 6, Thursday 16th July
Dear Year 6,
It is with great sadness that, due to Covid19 restrictions, we have had to cancel our year 6 leavers church celebration this year. I want you to know that we feel really proud of all of you and wish you all well for a bright and successful future. As I am not able to speak to you in church this year I am writing to you with the message that I would have given in church as we say goodbye and to wish you well.
An important message throughout your time with us has been to believe in yourself and dream big dreams. Just think back to when you started school- you have grown and flourished so much since joining us! You already have amazing talents and I want to keep living and learning so that you are able to fulfil your dreams and become the future amazing artists, designers, computer engineers, sportsmen and women, mediators, mathematicians readers and writers and a whole host more.
During your time with us you have had lots of new experiences and learned to negotiate the journey of forming friendships and accepting the view’s and beliefs of others. Most importantly, you have grown up to appreciate and live out our Christian values of kindness, respect, truth and forgiveness, something I hope that you will continue to do for the rest of your lives. You have of course achieved all of this with the love and support of all of your teachers in school, your grown ups at home and our church, Christ Church.
One of the wonderful things about life’s journey is that there are often changes and new challenges along the way. Change can be difficult but is important because it ensures that we really do live life to the full and have new opportunities that help us grow and flourish. Now is a time of great change for you. It is time for you to leave our school and take the next step of life’s journey. In the weeks and months ahead, there will be times when you are excited and feel on top of the world, there might also be times when you feel afraid or troubled; I can assure you that others will be feeling exactly the same, not least your grown ups at home who are hoping that all goes well for you.
There are some very wise words in the bible that I would like to share with you:
Psalm 46 says
‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble’
The psalm tells us we do not have to fear and that we have every reason to be strong. It tells us, if we look to God, he will stand by our side no matter what. The psalm goes on to tell us of the earth shaking, the mountains falling into the sea and the oceans roaring, something our lives can feel like when things are not as we would like them to be. It tells us to remember who is in charge here - it is God who is in charge and we have no need to fear whatever the challenge ahead. These words of wisdom may help you at this time year 6 and also at times of change that may come in the future.
I encourage you to make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. Believe in yourself, dream big dreams and remember there is nothing that you cannot achieve without hard work and self belief. And when difficult times come, which they will, know that you are loved by so many.
Your bible is a precious gift from our school. It is full of words of wisdom, hope and encouragement. Keep it safe.
Love to you all,
