At Christ Church Primary School, we seek to ensure that every child enjoys the life-changing benefits that come through play and sport. We aim for all pupils to be physically literate, gaining knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport. This extends to the very starts and ends of the school day as children are encouraged to walk and cycle to school. Through our commitment to sports we work with all children to harness the power of sport, physical activities and P.E. to build life skills and improve physical and mental well-being.
We offer, to all children, high-quality sports provision, including both competitive and non-competitive sports, in addition to the school curriculum. We have a full-time dedicated sports coach who works alongside teachers in P.E. lessons, as well as leading a wide range of high quality and inclusive competitive and non-competitive sports before school, after school and during lunchtime.
Our lunchtime sports activities are highly popular as children practise skills previously acquired and learn new skills in competitive and non-competitive games. Every child, every day, has the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and play opportunities led by our own staff team.
Through our sports leadership programme, we aim to empower our young people to be the voice for P.E. and sport in our school. Pupils develop leadership skills that help them achieve their sporting best in school and personal attributes such a teamwork and resilience, leadership and communication skills, helping them thrive in other areas of life.
In recognition of our extensive sports provision we have been awarded the Gold Schools Games Mark and the Youth Sports Trust Silver Quality Mark. We are very proud of our many sports teams who represent our school exceptionally well. Come and see our sports honours board and our year on year successes!
