15th January 2021
Dear parents, carers and children,
Most of us were expecting another wave of this awful virus to hit us in the new year but maybe not quite as soon as it did at the start of January. With just a few hours’ notice we were forced to close our school to most children, remaining open for those of critical workers and pupils that are classed as vulnerable. Once again, the efforts of the whole school community made this speedy closure a success and I want to express my sincere thanks for all of your support.
Sadly, we are still living through this unusual and painful time; our children, families and staff are having to adjust once again and make change in their lives. I know that you and your children will be feeling a range of emotions as this pandemic continues to affect us all, and I want you to know that we are thinking of you.
I feel exceptionally proud of the way our school community is working together to support each other. Our experienced staff team have worked hard to set up quality home learning for everyone and will be in regular contact to offer help and support as your child learns at home. It’s really important that your child has a go at the home learning each day, even if they are not able to do all of it.
I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you who are working hard at home to support your children in these extremely challenging circumstances. I know it’s not easy to juggle work, manage your family responsibilities and support siblings with home learning, but once again, the determination and resilience we have already seen is astounding. Keep going – you are doing really well. And remember, you are not on your own; we are in this together.
Remember too that we all need structure and routine in our lives and this is particularly important for children. Each year group ‘learning star’ has a suggested timetable for the day and we urge you to follow this as best you can. If it doesn’t suit you please feel free to design your own timetable to suit your family’s needs.
Children will naturally be spending much more time online than they do usually. Please take time to check they are doing this safely. There is information on our website to help with this. Any question please do get in touch.
Finally, I would like to thank you once again for all of your support. Keeping our staff and your families safe is vitally important as we fight this pandemic together, and we cannot thank you enough for your continued efforts.
Best wishes and take care,
Mrs S. Riley
