At Christ Church Primary School we have a team approach to curriculum leadership. Every subject is led by a curriculum team, comprising four teachers, one from each of our four phase teams.
The curriculum team is responsible for overseeing all subject specific planning and assessment, ensuring National Curriculum statutory requirements are met and ensuring progression across the school, and within the context of our outstanding curriculum. Each member has a key role within their own phase team both with termly planning and planning week by week. The curriculum team will make sure that good progress and outstanding outcomes are seen in every child’s learning logs.
A particularly important role is having a significant input into planning in the phase, looking at books to make sure progression can be seen. Curriculum team members support team leaders in ensuring high standards, phase team leaders having ultimate responsibility for standards in their phase.
The work of the curriculum teams is overseen by the headteacher, with the support of the deputy, who has overall responsibility for the quality of the curriculum and progress made in school.
From time to time assistant heads have a key role to play in these areas.
